I recently went up to Hamilton to visit some friends who live in the city. Since I had time on my hands between arriving there and meeting up with them, I visited a couple more RE2 shooting locations. As with my previous entry involving locations shot in Toronto, the "real life" pictures of Hamilton are all mine, so please do not reproduce or distribute them without my permission. I also took the screencaps from the DVD myself, for illustrative purposes. Click on any of the pictures to make them bigger.

First location: Raccoon City Street Where Carlos and Co. Fought Zombies (aka John Street North, by the King Street PizzaPizza)

On walking up John St from the parking lot towards King St E, I immediately recognized this part of the street:

as the location where they shot all of the footage of Carlos and his men fighting zombies in the street and blowing shit up, like this:

But really, no back-up was coming. They had no choice but to blow up John Street, I reflected... then ate lunch in the PizzaPizza. Mmmmmm PizzaPizza pizza. PizzaPizza veggie pizza and chocolate milk is zombie-fighting fuel, okay?

Second location: Alley Where Carlos and Co Fell Back To Escape The Zombies (aka alley off John Street North)

So I was walking back up the other side of the street to my car, when I spied this alley:

And snapped a quick picture as I realized it was the alley where Carlos and his men made their escape! Fall back, boys! You've just been expended!

Third location: Creepy Raccoon City Cemetery (aka Hamilton Cemetery)

I don't know where exactly in the cemetery they filmed, because it's friggin' huge and full of the tall, creepy, standy-uppy grave stones:

But you can see why they chose to film here. It sure has the ambience.

Now picture it at night:

That's the ticket! Scary!

I have to say, this was much easier than getting the Toronto shots and for exactly one reason: I wasn't dying of exposure! When I went to Toronto it was twenty degrees below zero. The day I was in Hamilton was really very pleasant. I think it was a balmy sixteen degrees or something. Well above freezing, at any rate.

As usual, feel free to comment or ask questions. These were exciting locations to snap pictures at, because - like City Hall and the CBC Building - the actors filmed in these places. Oded was in the scenes in John St and Milla was at the cemetery.

They sure do dress it up, eh? You can tell from the buildings though. That street has some distinctive old architecture. I wish I knew exactly where in the cemetery they filmed before I went, because it's HUGE and there are so many big old headstones, I just couldn't wander around all day trying to find the same configuration that they were standing near from memory!
