The story is a strange and beautiful mixture of melancholy and love. Hope and hopelessness. It was really interesting, particularly that the man kept his wife, or at least her life force, alive and with him until his death. He trapped her in her own symbolic immortality for a time, poor woman, and he didn't even know it.
I know it's a stretch but there seems to be some sort of weird parallel there between them and Ianto and Jack, kept together by the flotsam and jetsam of the rift until one of them dies leaving the other to move on.
Very melancholy, kind of hopeless, but still there is love.
Nice story. I'm looking forward to checking out your other work.
