He's been through so much in his short life, I think we sometimes forget he's still at an age when death is something you'd just as soon not think about. Yeah, and he ends up having to think about it a lot. It's not established, but I don't think his parents are alive. At least not his father, from the fond nostaligic way he talks about him. There was, basically, EVERYONE he knew at Canary Wharf destroyed. Lisa. Suzie. It's enough to give someone a complex! I think Jack's immortality can be comforting to him on days when Death is in the mood to show off. And I think that it's part of the connection between Ianto and Jack, the whole losing loved ones thing. Not a lot of people with a normal lifespan experience loss on the scale that Jack has. Ianto has to be close.
